Facilities

When is the North Yorkshire Water Park open?

The Water Park is open daily 8am - 8pm. Activity times vary.

Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th October:
- Stand Up Paddle Boarding, Kayaking and Pedalos: 10.30am - 4.30pm
- Open Water Swimming: 9.30am - 11am

Monday 26th - Friday 30th October:
- Stand Up Paddle Boarding, Kayaking and Pedalos: 12pm - 4pm (last session starts at 3pm)

Saturday 31st October:
- Stand Up Paddle Boarding, Kayaking and Pedalos: 10.30am - 4.30pm
- Open Water Swimming: 9.30am - 11am

Fishing:
- Available daily 8am – 8pm

Do you have changing and toilet facilities?

Yes, however due to Covid-19, our changing rooms are temporarily closed and we have limited toilet facilities. We ask you to come prepared with weather appropriate clothing, towels and warm clothing to change into after your activity.

We suggest arriving with your swimming costume on underneath your clothes to make changing easier.

Do you have disabled toilets?

Yes - disabled toilets are available at the Water Park.

Is there parking?

Yes - there is free parking at the leisure lake with additional over flow parking if required still within the North Yorkshire Water Park.

Is there coach parking?

Yes - there is coach parking available with prior arrangement.

Where can I leave my valuables?

We have small personal effect lockers for your use. We advise locking your items in your car then locking the keys in a locker.

Do I have to pay to watch?

No - If you are attending with people who are taking part in watersport activities you can watch them with no charge.

Is there somewhere to buy food?

Yes - our lakeside café is currently serving takeaway hot and cold drinks and cold snacks.

Can I bring my own food and picnic?

Yes, you may bring a picnic blanket and sit on the grass banks. Due to Covid-19 our picnic benches are not in use.

Are dogs allowed on site?

Yes, we do allow dogs at our Water Park. They must be kept under control and on a lead at all times. Owners must clear up after their dog and use the bins provided.

Is alcohol and drugs permitted at the Water Park?

No - we have a zero tolerance towards alcohol and drugs and anyone who we believe to be under the influence of either will not be permitted to use any of our water activities.

Leisure and watersports lake

Are there fish in the Watersport lake?

Yes - but don't worry they will keep out of your way!

How deep is the lake?

The lake is between 15’ and 45’ in depth.

How big is the lake?

The leisure lake is 35 hectares.

What is the average tempature?

The average water temperature is 18 degrees in the summer months.

Can you walk around the lake?

Yes – we have an all-terrain, gravelled 2.5km track that circles the whole leisure lake. Suitable for walking, running and cycling.

Watersports and restrictions

What activities are available at the moment?

Stand Up Paddle Boarding, Kayaking, Open Water Swimming and Pedalos.

How much is a session?

Stand up paddle boarding – £14 per person, or a session with an instructor £20 per person (minimum 4 people and must be booked 72 hours in advance).

Kayaking – Single kayak, £14 per person per hour session and tandem kayak £20 per hour session.

Pedalos - £10 per pedalo per 30 minute session.

Open Water Swimming - £5 per session

Advance booking is essential for all watersports except our Pedalos.

Are there age restrictions?

Yes – Stand Up Paddle Boarding and Kayaking are suitable for 5+ years with adult supervision.

Pedalos – suitable for any age as long as a buoyancy aid fits safely and securely. Adult supervision is required.

Open water swimming – minimum age 11 years+. Under 18’s must provide a disclaimer form signed by a parent/guardian.

Do children need adult supervision?

Yes - children need to be accompanied by a responsible adult. One adult to three children minimum ratio. A child is someone who is under the age of 18 years.

Children of primary school age must be accompanied on the activity by an adult.

Children who are of secondary school age must have adult supervision on the bank of the lake.

How do I book?

Bookings are taken via our website online booking system.

Do you need to be able to swim?

You must be able to swim at least 50m unaided for Kayaking and Stand Up Paddle Boarding.

To take part in open water swimming you must be able to swim 400m minimum.

Do wetsuits need to be worn?

Wetsuits must be worn for Stand Up Paddle Boarding and Kayaking. Short wetsuits are included in the ticket price.

Wetsuits are not compulsory for Open Water Swimming, however we do have short (£3) and long (£5) wetsuits available to hire. Towfloats must be worn.

Wetsuits are not required for Pedalos.

Are buoyancy aids provided?

Yes – buoyancy aids are provided on site and must be worn whilst Stand Up Paddle Boarding, Kayaking and on the Pedalos.

Towfloats must be worn while open water swimming.

Can I wear shoes?

We do allow trainer style shoes for our watersports.

Must I remove all of my jewellery?

Yes - all jewellery must be removed before participating in any watersport. This includes removable earrings. If you have recently had a piercing you will need to tape over them prior to taking part in an activity.

Can you bring your own kayak or stand up paddle board?

Yes – you can bring your own stand up paddle board or kayak. This includes inflatable kayaks and SUP’s, however, sailing dinghies are not permitted.

Full and half day permits available to purchase at our lake for £10.

Do you need to have prior experience?

No – this is not required for any of our watersports.

What if it is raining or bad weather?

If it's raining, our watersport activities will still take place. On occasions when there are high winds, Pedalos will not be available for use and other watersport sessions may be paused or cancelled when there is extreme weather. If you have booked in advance, we will contact you and offer you a full refund.

Can I get a refund?

If North Yorkshire Water Park cancel your booking for any reason you will be entitled to a full refund. If you cancel your session more than 48 hours beforehand, we will offer you a credit to book on another date or refund 50% of your booking price. If you cancel your booking within 48 hours of your session there will be no refund.

AquaPark

What are the opening times for the AquaPark?

The AquaPark is closed this season due to social distancing and health & safety measures impacting the customer experience. Reopening 2021.
