Wake Park and new cafe coming to North Yorkshire Water Park!
28 July 2020
We are really delighted to announce that the Water Park has been granted full planning permission by Scarborough Borough Council to become a year-round visitor destination with a new Wake Park and permanent Café.
Our new Café will be sympathetically designed to fit in and enhance the beautiful natural environment overlooking the leisure lake and the Wake Park will cater for both beginners and experienced Wakeboarders.
Wake boarding is similar to water-skiing and is growing in popularity with wakeboarders riding on a short, wide board resembling a surfboard whilst being towed by a cable and pulley system. Our Wake Park will be the first in North Yorkshire and will be the perfect place for extreme sport enthusiasts to learn to Wakeboard with trained instructors, and for experienced Wakeboarders to practice their jumps and tricks on our challenging lines.
Janet Deacon, Tourism and Corporate Marketing Manager at Scarborough Borough Council commented: “It’s great to see North Yorkshire Water Park expanding into an all year-round visitor destination with the first Wake Park in North Yorkshire! When the Wake Park opens, it will bring a fantastic boost to the local economy giving locals and holiday makers a beautiful and fun place to enjoy the natural environment. We look forward to seeing the plans take shape.”
We are still finalising the build programme, which has been delayed due to Covid-19, and so we will be posting updates as work commences and regarding our plans for opening next year.
